When Should I Activate My eSIM?

Modified on Mon, 30 Jun at 5:21 PM

Short Answer:

Activate your eSIM before departure, when you have a stable Wi-Fi connection, but only after checking the plan’s specific activation policy.

What You Need to Know

  1. You Can Buy Anytime

You can purchase your eSIM in advance — there’s no requirement to activate it immediately upon purchase.

  2. Use Wi-Fi to Activate

Since activation requires an internet connection, we recommend activating your eSIM while still connected to Wi-Fi, such as at home, in a hotel, or at the airport.

  3. Check Plan Validity

    • Some plans activate automatically upon installation.
    • Others allow delayed activation, offering validity periods of up to 180 days or even 1 year.

Always refer to your product page for the specific plan’s activation rules to avoid starting the plan earlier than needed.
